Reducing restaurant no-shows

A booked table left empty is a lost service. Most no-shows are not bad will: guests forgot, or something came up and cancelling was not easy.

01

Confirm straight away

An instant confirmation with the day, the time and the party size avoids misunderstandings and gives the guest something to find again.

02

Remind at the right moment

A reminder the day before or the same day brings the booking back to mind. The channel matters: a message read on the phone often works better than an e-mail.

03

Make cancelling easy

If cancelling means calling during service, guests do not do it. A link or a message to cancel frees the table in time.

04

Follow habits

Note the guests who do not come. For large parties or very busy evenings, an extra confirmation can make sense.

05

Keep the table useful

A table freed late fills with walk-ins. A room you read at a glance lets you give it away fast.

Frequently asked questions

When should the reminder go out?

Usually the day before for dinner, the same morning for lunch.

WhatsApp or e-mail?

The channel the guest really reads; WhatsApp is often read sooner.

What about a table freed at the last minute?

Offer it to walk-ins or to the waiting list.
